 a)Win
  • There are 5 ways you can win a game of chess:

a) Checkmate
  • Your opponent’s King cannot get out of check.

b) Resign
  • Your opponent thinks his position is hopeless and decided to give up.

c) Time Drop
  • If you are using a chess clock, you win if your opponent’s time’s up.

d) Illegal move
  • An illegal move is a move that isn't permitted by the rules of chess. Example: didn’t get his king out of check.
  • Player can only claim an illegal move after his opponent press the clock.
  • The organizer reserves the right to change numbers of illegal move permitted
  • Players in tournament organized by Mind Chess will lose on second illegal move. Player should raise their hand and call arbiter to witness the illegal move.

e) Any device carried by a player making annoying sound
  • Example: mobile phone ring, alarm in the watch making sound.

b)Draw
  • There are 6 ways you can draw a game of chess:

a)Stalemate
  • The player to move is not in check.
  • The player cannot move any of his chess piece.

b) Insufficient Material
  • Both players don’t have enough chess pieces to force checkmate.
  • It is a draw when:
    1. King vs King
    2. King + Knight vs King
    3. King +Bishop  vs King
    4. King + Knight vs King + Knight
    5. King + Knight vs King + Bishop
    6. King + Bishop vs King + Bishop
    7. King + 2 Knights vs King

c) Threefold Repetition
  • Same position repeats for 3 times.

d) 50 Moves Rules
  • Both players play 50 moves each without a Pawn move or a capture.
  • This usually happens at the end of the game when 1 player is trying to checkmate another but cannot find the correct way.
  • If either player moves a Pawn or makes a capture, you start counting again.

e) Agreement
  • Both players agree to a draw.

c)Touch Move

  1. If a player having the move deliberately touches one of his pieces, he must move it if it can be legally moved. You touch it, you move it!
  2. So long as the hand has not left the piece on a new square, the piece can be placed on any accessible square.
  3. If a player touches a hostile piece with his finger or own piece, then he must capture it if the piece can be captured.
  4. Player should say “adjust” if he just wanted to adjust his piece and not touch move before he touches his piece.

d)Others

  1. No one should inform illegal move or time drop other than the player himself.
  2. No advice should be given to the player who is still playing his game.
  3. Player should use the same hand to move the piece and press the clock. Illegal move will be given to player who uses different hand to move the piece and press the clock. Illegal move is given on the second offence.
  4. This is not a knockout tournament. Players get to play all the round and prizes are given based on the points collected(win=1 point, draw=0.5 point, lose=0 point)
